What is Canine Hydrotherapy?

Canine hydrotherapy is a form of hydrotherapy (water based therapy) used to treat chronic conditions, post-operative recovery, and pre-operative or general fitness in dogs. The water reduces the stress on weight bearing joints it helps to reduce pain and increase movement.

In the way that swimming is good for humans who have difficulty with high impact exercise, hydrotherapy works in a similar for dogs. It can used to treat a variety of conditions such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Patella luxation
  • Ligament damage
  • Spondylosis
  • Spinal injuries
  • Obesity
